It is all the more pleasant that Higer approached the process of passenger transportation from a slightly different angle. Instead of upgrading according to already developed positions, a new model of the Higer 6119 intercity bus was created specifically for our market. Well, let's see if it was worth the effort?

Over the years of sales, the Higer 6119 has already become familiar on our roads, however, and as soon as it appeared on the market, it was not very conspicuous. Classic oriental appearance - simple and functional.

But as always in such cases, complete expanse for passengers. Windows of a simple form provide a good overview. A smooth window sill line made it possible to make a flat floor throughout the entire cabin , right up to the last row of seats. At the same time, despite the rigid fixation of the seats, it was possible to create comfortable conditions for all passengers, avoiding the so-called "flawed" seats. And this is taking into account the fact that the seatbacks recline at an angle that feels much greater than that of competitors.

Perhaps a luggage compartment with a capacity of 5.15 cubic meters. some will find it small. In vain, after all, this is not a long-range liner, but a bus for intraregional communication. In addition, through compartments that allow you to remove luggage from any side of the car are separated in diameter by braces that prevent luggage from moving during heavy braking or acceleration.

Behind the wheel of the bus, it was not possible to experience any supernatural sensations. Higer 6119 turned out to be simple, understandable and, probably, therefore not memorable. After the trip, you just leave your usual workplace.

The gear lever is convenient to use as an armrest - good. Due to its large length, the gears are not switched on very clearly - badly. A huge windshield with a "double" blade on the driver's side and comfortable mirrors provide excellent visibility forward and back - good. Due to the small size of the driver’s side window and the wide rack, when entering the acceleration lane, you have to actively turn your head and look out the passenger window, and it’s inconvenient to submit documents through a small window, and even more so to talk with inspectors - bad.

The bus confidently accelerates and brakes both with the help of the Telma electromagnetic type transmission brake and the main Wabco brake system - good. The speed limiter , set to 100 km / h, infringes on the capabilities of the bus, not reaching the border of a safe level - bad. And there are many such moments. But the essence is the same - the bus is completely controlled by the driver, who clearly knows what to expect from Higer, what he can and cannot do.

Probably the only combination of the incongruous is the system of mirrors . As well as they allow you to control the situation from behind-sideways , they are just as useless when boarding and disembarking passengers. And if the driver sees the first door directly, then what is happening in the area of ​​​​the second is reliably hidden by the front sash in the open position. , the camera at the second door helps a lot . But here's the problem - in the bright sun it turned out to be difficult to make out its image - the monitor is strongly illuminated. And since it is the same for the rear view camera, there are the same problems with the image transmitted from it. In fairness, I note that the clarity, truthfulness of the image and the width of the "coverage" pleasantly surprise.

An interesting point, however, characteristic of the entire line of Higer intercity buses, is the function of automatically closing the doors when starting off . Moreover, it only works if the bus was put on the handbrake - a kind of peculiar way to discipline the driver.

I would like to end my acquaintance with Higer 6119TQ on one more positive point. In almost every test with Higer buses, we say that the Chinese quite quickly make certain changes to the design. Small and not very, but they are in every model sold, after all, China and Russia are different countries.

It is all the more interesting to note that more than 25 different changes . The most significant: additional noise insulation Henkel floor above the engine compartment; heating the urea tank - an actual solution for our frosts; floor heaters of the cabin were replaced with wall-mounted ones to prevent moisture ingress; function of forced inflow of fresh air in the windshield heater (in the defroster); wiring with sealed connectors, laid in fireproof corrugations, nipple extensions for pumping the internal wheels of the rear axle (it was necessary to remove the outer ramp); air outlet in the front bumper for tire inflation; the belt drive of the cooling fan has been replaced by a fan with an electromagnetic clutch, etc.

The tourist bus model Higer KLQ6119TQ, well-known on the Russian market, has undergone a radical modernization . With a more detailed acquaintance, we found out that, compared with its predecessor, the novelty has become longer, more spacious, more powerful and more comfortable.

The new 55-seat tourist Higer KLQ6119TQ received a Russian OTTS at the beginning of 2014, and its first public appearance took place at the World of Buses 2014 festival in Kolomna.

In appearance, the car resembles the previous 47-seat model, which has been on sale since 2008. This is probably why the manufacturer decided to use the same model index, which caused some confusion in the catalog. However, the distributor has already found a way out by adding the prefix "Premium" to the designation of the new bus. This is how it is identified by most customers.

So, Higer KLQ6119TQ "Premium" is a completely new bus that has little in common with its predecessor . When it was created, the Chinese manufacturer focused on the European competitor MAN Lion's Regio. The main features are increased passenger capacity and comfort . The car, which can accommodate 55 passengers with a length of 12.5 m, has a wheelbase of 6200 mm. In terms of capacity, the novelty surpasses the 6129 model, which until recently was the flagship of the Higer lineup. It is unlikely that anyone will argue that an important factor in the safety of transporting children (and not only) is an intelligent driver. Let's take a look at the TagAZ "schoolboy" through his eyes. Thanks to the low seating position, the entry process is comfortable. The way out, in principle, is the same, only the wheels should be put straight, otherwise you will have to forget about clean trousers.

The workplace is no different from that in an ordinary city car. Except that on the right there is no chair for a pretty passenger or a drunken passenger, equally distracting from the control process.

However, the school version of the bus has an element that is missing in other transport versions - this is an SGU with a pair of microphones. I will say right away how well they convey the driver's tirades to free and involuntary listeners, just as it is inconvenient for him to work with them. The fact is that the microphone, designed to work with an outdoor loudspeaker installation, is very short, and is fixed on the front pillar and you have to bend over to it. A similar device for intra-cabin communication, on the contrary, has a long cord that is constantly wound around the gas pedal. It’s good that school bus drivers rarely use these accessories, and therefore you can simply close your eyes to this omission.

But the rest is in order. Adjustable in two planes steering wheel and a good seat. The instrument panel, although not a masterpiece of design thought, performs its functions. A scattering of keys is surprisingly comfortable and understandable. Mirrors that seem small at first can give odds to other large-sized counterparts, which is important for working with the ubiquitous children. That's where the need for a round lens to view the space around the front bumper is felt!

Among the shortcomings, I note a small glove box, the absence of pockets, shelves and any other compartments for small things. There is nothing to even hang a jacket on, although there is a place for all of the above. And, of course, the disease of almost all buses with a front-mounted power unit is the need to perform acrobatic exercises when moving from the driver's seat to the passenger compartment. Having performed this number a couple of times, I then simply went out into the street and, having walked around, entered through the passenger door - the same time, but less trouble.

But how good is the bus in motion! Of course, the task was not to drive, and the “anchor”, set to 60 km / h, would not allow this. But in the conditions of the city, County feels at home. Fast and confident acceleration, clear and easy gear shifting, gear lever located exactly where it is needed. And what maneuverability! The bus turns around almost “on the patch”, and when reversing it does not make you strain. For "leakage" to educational institutions, Hyundai turned out to be better than I expected. Even the review turned out to be on top, despite the two-section sliding side windows, which usually get in the way on such machines.

Finally, a few words about ETO. I'll start with a fly in the ointment: the process of removing the spare wheel turned out to be inconvenient. To get the handle of the "rotary" into the winch mechanism, you need to practically lie on the ground to correct the process of "docking" this pair. It is clear that in any case you will have to get dirty, but it will be difficult for full drivers to bend at such an angle.

Otherwise, no remarks.
The top cover of the hood is covered with an additional sound-insulating casing with Velcro. Having removed it, we get access to three locks that press the lid quite tightly, and at the same time (this is really a miracle for domestic assembly technology) they are easily opened with two fingers. In the engine compartment, everything is expected - a tight layout and easy access to the filler necks. The same can be said about the battery. It would be worthwhile, of course, to build a tool box, but this is more of a driver's wish. The current placement of the necessary minimum (“balloon”, jack and “crooked starter” of the reserve) at the rear wall is quite viable. At least I easily took out and put back the whole set. I had the opportunity to drive such cars twice - first on the French Nice and its environs, and then on the German autobahns. I confess honestly: I have not seen a better bus! And the international title Coach of the Year'2014 (“Best Tourist Bus 2014”), which the Setra TopClass 500 received at the bus salon in Kortrijk (it is described in the same issue), is honestly deserved.

Well, who thought of arranging a test drive of hefty liners on the streets of Nice, where two cars can hardly pass? By the way, it was in Nice in 1977 that the Setra brand won a mountain of prizes at the then international automobile exhibition Semaine Internationale du Car. It is curious that at the same exhibition, but ten years earlier, no less number of prizes (and even the main cup of the organizing committee) were received by the Soviet minibus ZIL-118 Yunost. True, Youth never became mass, but Setra received worldwide recognition as the first mass-produced bus with a load-bearing body. The name Setra stands for “selbsttragend”, “self-supporting”.

The main visual difference is the absence of a "hump" air conditioner on the roof: it is built into the body. In addition, here, in principle, there is no manual control box: only the Mercedes “robot” PowerShift, familiar from Mercedes trucks. (That's good, otherwise the “comfort class” control of the “mechanics” seemed slurred to me.) The engines are also exactly like the new Mercedes tractors and dump trucks: in-line “sixes” with a capacity of 476 or 510 hp.
