The truck tractor MAZ-6422 and its modifications are focused on efficient operation as part of a road train for transportation over various distances. History of creation
The ancestor of the MAZ-6422 was the well-known modification under the index 5335, which had a relatively small carrying capacity, about eight tons. The base model was distinguished by high-quality cab lining and an all-metal cargo platform. Based on it, several on-board variations and truck tractors with a three-seat cab, as well as a sleeping bag for two people, were created.
The improved car from Belarusian manufacturers was equipped with a new YaMZ-238E engine, as well as a synchronized eight-speed manual gearbox. In addition to the new version with a carrying capacity of eight and a half tons, in 1978 the MAZ-tractor 6422 appeared, which is widely known under the name "SuperMAZ". This model has been repeatedly upgraded, equipped with more powerful power plants, and some samples have received an even greater load capacity.

The truck received a 6 * 4 wheel formula, a YaMZ-238F power unit, a suspension with stabilized lateral stability and a comfortable cab with a compartment for rest. The engine power is 320 "horses", fuel consumption is about 45 liters per hundred kilometers, with a gas tank capacity of 350 liters.

Cabin MAZ-6422
One of the main differences between the truck in question and its predecessor was the cab. The new model received a box-shaped shape, modern lighting elements and an original radiator grille. Instead of a massive steel bumper, an improved element appeared with an embedded headlight unit. An aerodynamic spoiler was placed on the roof of the updated car.
Not spared positive changes and the interior of the cabin. A curved windshield that improves visibility, a driver's seat adjustable in several planes, a safe steering wheel, and a pair of berths are also installed.
Among other features of the MAZ-6422 tractor, it can be noted that the power plant is shifted forward by almost forty centimeters relative to the front axis. In addition, the machine is equipped with a hydraulic cab lift, an updated gearbox, drive axles and a new brake assembly.
Modifications MAZ-6422
The cab of the Minsk tractor is decorated in a simple design, but it looks presentable. A large radiator grille, a small bumper with headlights harmoniously fit into the overall appearance of the car. Panoramic glass improved visibility, and a neat roof spoiler improved aerodynamic performance. The dimensions of the truck tractor are 6.6 meters in length, and in width and height, respectively, 2.5 and 3.8 meters. The standard truck clearance is 260 mm. In the future, a large number of modifications of the model were developed at the automobile plant, differing in the power plant. In 1989, the first modification of the car was put on the conveyor, with an engine developing a power of 360 hp. In the same year, a version of the MAZ-6422 was launched, equipped with a more powerful engine of 425 "horses". The model with the index "6" is distinguished by the fact that instead of the Yaroslavl diesel engine, a German MAN unit (360 hp) is installed, which works in conjunction with a 12-speed gearbox. A modified version of the truck with the addition of the number "7" to the definition of the name, equipped with the same 8-cylinder diesel engine and with a modified front end, has been produced since 1985. The last (1997) launched the release of the MAZ-64227 version with the index "29".

Model range of MAZ truck tractors

Biaxial models are lighter in weight. For example, MAZ 5433 weighs about 8.5 tons, MAZ 5440 - about 8 tons, and the lightest tractor of the entire family, MAZ 5432 - only 7.3 tons. Many MAZ truck tractors can be equipped with engines of different power. In the model index, this is indicated as A2, A5, A8, etc. The letter "A" means that the engine complies with the Euro-3 environmental standard, and the number just indicates the engine power. So, for example, the MAZ 5440A8 differs from the MAZ 5440A5 in a more powerful engine - 400 "horses" versus 330. The same can be said about the MAZ 6430A9 and MAZ 6430A8 models.
More engine power not only provides better road dynamics, but often allows the tractor to tow a heavier trailer. If for MAZ 6422A5 the permissible weight of a road train is 44 tons, then for MAZ 6422A8 this figure is already 52 tons.
Speaking of figures and technical parameters, one should not forget about another important criterion - comfort. Especially when it comes to modern trucks for long-distance transportation, because safety often depends on driver fatigue on long-distance routes. Cabins that are installed on MAZ vehicles, until recently, were divided into two classes - large and small. Large ones were designed for two drivers and were equipped with sleeping places. On truck tractors, a small cab is used only on MAZ 5433. This machine is not designed for long-distance flights, its scope is urban construction and local transportation.
