Movement mechanism
Each track is driven by a 2-speed axial-piston hydraulic motor through a planetary gearbox, which provides reverse movement of the tracks. - Hydraulic system : Pumping units : main - 2 axial pumps flow 2x212 l/min; control circuit - gear pump - productivity 33.6 l / min. Hydraulic motors : 2 per undercarriage; 1 for the turret traverse drive. Hydraulic cylinders : one per bucket and arm; 2 per arrow.
- The platform is swivel . The frame under the platform is steel, D-shaped section. The slewing mechanism is a large-sized single-row roller type bearing, the rotation is set by a hydraulic motor through a planetary type gearbox. The disc type brake is constantly braked by springs, hydraulically released.
- The control cabin provides a complete overview of the work area, protection of the operator from falling objects, and is equipped with ventilation and heating units. The chair is adjustable in all respects, with a cushioned suspension.
- Crawler trucks and track bands . Welded bogies with track and support rollers, drive sprockets and hydraulic tensioners. Trucks 600, 700, 800 mm wide with three lugs. The fingers are hardened by heat treatment.

Hitachi Zaxis 240-3 excavator is the basic unit of the serial weight group 240, it combines power, efficiency in use with economy in fuel consumption, convenience and ease of operation.
